I also cleaned my train wreck of a desk! It is hysterical how MESSY my little space can become in a matter of moments! I used to have a pin that said "I am not messy, I'm creative". Unfortunately that pin is lost in the mess some where. ;) Seriously! I'm constantly reorganizing and inventing the next great storage solution to house my piles of paper! One thing that has really worked well is this... I'm always flipping through my vintage books looking for interesting little phrases or fun random words to use in my art. I tear them out and keep them in little glass dishes. When I'm looking for inspiration I peek at those...sometimes that little scrap will inspire the whole creation! Most times I just yield to the mess:)

When I taught kindergarten, I had a mug that said "A creative mind is rarely tidy". I continue to recall that saying and consider it my 'excuse'.
I think having our 'messes' is just part of a creative person's make-up.
Glad I'm not the only one with a mess of an art desk...I have now overtaken two tables and a cabinet with my craftiness...I swear, the messiness multiplies! at least it yields cuteness, right?
I'm very creative too... My mum gave me a sign that says : "My house was clean last week, sorry you missed it." She knows me too well.
