little ms. pumpkin & dracula

Jake and I decorated our little baby pumpkins!

I've never "dressed up" a white pumpkin before! Of course I had to make a Ms. Pumpkin. Being the only girl in the house, I do need a little company! I just made a paper hat, stuck some yarn on for hair and drew a little face...propped her up on an upside POLKADOT bowl...and voila! Ms. Pumpkin. We used that foam paper stuff and hot glue for Jake's! Dracula is living on our front steps. He'll scare off any tricksters! Jake did a fabulous job turning his baby pumpkin into a scary Dracula! The cape he made is so cute...oops, I mean scary;)

Bonjour from Quebec! I am a fellow seller on eBay, have been doing it for less than a year but have been an illustrator of children books for almost 10 years. I enjoy your art and your blog a lot! I am curious to know how you are succeeding in selling on Etsy in comparison to selling on eBay. As any other artist, I can produce so many pieces weekly, not more and sometimes I wonder if I could get a better price on Etsy than on eBay. Would love to hear about your experience selling on both sites... Keep on being so creative! Take care! LuLu

Bonjour to you Lulu! Thanks so much for visiting and for your sweet compliments:)

Etsy compared to Ebay...this is what I think. I adore etsy. It is all handmade (besides some suppies and vintage goods) items...and not as BIG as ebay...which I like. The listing fee is only 20 cents and it stays on for 4 months (4 or 3??) which is WONDERFUL! Can't remember what the final sale fee is ...but it's not bad. I can sell my pieces for a better price there, since I don't have to worry about an auction. I've had some success with etsy so far. I've sold about 14 paintings. Since I am maintaining my business on ebay as well...I'm not quite able to maintain etsy as much as I would like. Like you said...you can only produce so many originals in a week! I have slowly built a customer base on ebay that I don't want to lose...so I continue to list there...mostly my more primitive folk art and my aceo cards. I use etsy for my more whimsical stuff:) The most successful people on etsy do the following:
1. promote their shop outside of etsy...through a blog or...?
2. offer prints
3. list most everyday or at least certain times during a week (that's where the prints come in handy!)
4. do a great job photographing their pieces.

Ebays fees are very expensive...you have to start your auctions at such a low price and your art can get really lost in the sea of other items there. I have needed support from them before...and couldn't ever speak to anyone or get my problem resolved. Sometimes I think they are just too big. It is where I got started though, and without ebay I wouldn't have gotten to this point in my business!
Wow...what a book this is turning into! Email me (fourtwentynine@hotmail.com) your listings on ebay...I'd love to see your art! If you have the time to work at it...I would HIGHLY recommend etsy!! Thanks Lulu!! xoxo..jenn

Talk about neglect...I haven't been on We Love Etsy in a bit! I did that background by going to
*edit pages theme ...then
*theme settings... then
*background and I chose a photo and the "tiled" option.

Let me know when you get your blog up and running!! xoxo..jenn
