apples GALORE...

Thanks so much for all the wonderful birthday love! I just loved getting all your wonderful messages! I had a wonderful day. Henry and I went shopping. I found some fabulous new polkadot (what else!?) bowls at Homegoods and we bought some fun Halloween decor for the outside yard. Henry was a complete angel the whole time. It was a birthday miracle! He even kept hugging me and saying "i love you" and "oooh...look at that...it's bootiful!" . Adorable! What a good shopping buddy. The 4 of us went to dinner out at my favorite Japanese Restaurant. A great little local place with especially good sushi.

I was especially excited when I opened my present from my parents!! Among other fabulous things...There was a pair of the most adorable Betsey Johnson pj's! (I adore Betsey SO much and have since high school!!!) Also... a little trio of the wonderful Jennifer Murphy's Frozen Charlottes!! I have been dreaming of these sweet little Ladies forever...such a treat!

Saturday, Jake and I had to make our bulletin board for his school's reading program! The theme is Read to Feed and the kids reading will benefit local hunger programs. Great idea, huh!? This is the 3rd year we have volunteered to make a board and we have so much fun. We chose "Dancin' In The Kitchen". It has the most delightful illustrations! Here's the cover of the book and a peek at our finished bulletin board! Jake made all the food. So cute!

Later Saturday we all went apple picking! It was so much fun and we got completely carried away with it. Long story short...we left with over 30 lbs. of apples! Seriously! It was such a great time...we just couldn't help ourselves! We have been coming up with all sorts of ideas for apple menu items! Apple pie, apple turnovers, apple pancakes, applesauce...etc, etc! Just look at these gorgeous apples...

Today I cleaned the house from top to bottom. Scrubbing under the couches...washing slip covers...a REALLY good clean. Since it won't last more than a day or so (ha) I took a picture of the living room to remember it by!

Lastly...and I apologize this has turned into a bit of a book... this sweet little mermaid went to live in my etsy shop tonite. Her little scrap of vintage text reads "tranquil unfathomable sea!".

How could I forget!? My little Fall Houses and Trick or Treaters were featured in 3 different etsy treasuries last Friday. This was my FIRST time featured in a treasury. It was beyond exciting to see.

I also cleaned my train wreck of a desk! It is hysterical how MESSY my little space can become in a matter of moments! I used to have a pin that said "I am not messy, I'm creative". Unfortunately that pin is lost in the mess some where. ;) Seriously! I'm constantly reorganizing and inventing the next great storage solution to house my piles of paper! One thing that has really worked well is this... I'm always flipping through my vintage books looking for interesting little phrases or fun random words to use in my art. I tear them out and keep them in little glass dishes. When I'm looking for inspiration I peek at those...sometimes that little scrap will inspire the whole creation! Most times I just yield to the mess:)

monday again?

The weekends go by so fast. Monday morning is tough to greet. But, after a couple cups of coffee, packing lunch & snacks, remembering it's pool day at the last minute & packing that up, making sure teeth have been brushed and hair is not sticking up...I started to settle into it :) Don't be sad poor Monday...we'll love you again soon...maybe.

I got some work done this weekend. Sunday, Chris took the boys to the beach to see the crabs (hundreds of...I guess little blue crab?) and I had some quiet work time to myself. Thank you! Finally finished my commission pieces and my item for the U.H.A.T. Halloween swap. The swap is a surprise, so I can't show you that...yet! I also have a couple new paintings living at my etsy store! Which by the way...if you are a regular funky art by jenn buyer and you are totally confused by the 2 different shops...I'm working on it! I know my listings have been really sparatic and maybe not making much sense. I'm hoping to have my ebay and etsy shops be totally different. I just haven't figured out where to draw the line? The obvious difference being ebay is auctions and etsy is a full price purchase. Do I just sell my aceo collection and primitive paintings on ebay. And, etsy will be the more funky stuff? If you have any input, I'm all ears. I want to be consistent and for you to be able to find what you're looking for! I feel it's been quite confusing. Lots to think about....

I meant to pull all the Halloween decorations out over the weekend. They'll have to wait for 1 more week. There are some that I love so much...they stay out all year. I've said it once and I'll say it 50 more times before it finally gets here...I just LOVE Halloween!!!

Lastly...a little eye candy. Anthropologie is probably my all time FAVORITE store. I absolutely adore their clothes and their housewares are to die for. They have been having a furniture sale that I have been drooling and dreaming of. Don't you just LOVE these chairs!? They are ridiculously expensive, but oh so fun to imagine in my house:)

busy bee...

The days have been FLYING by...and the weather has been truly gorgeous! Fall has finally arrived and we are loving every minute of it! Henry is obsessed with baseball (a dream come true for my husband...a baseball fanatic himself) and wants nothing more than to "hit the ball more 'gain?". I am happy to oblige in this fabulous weather! He is loving his school, by the way. What a relief. I do have to work in his class tomorrow, so keep in mind that everything might change now! I'm convinced he is much more well behaved when I'm not around.

I have been so busy with way too many projects. Most important are 2 commission pieces that I have almost completed. (There's that "almost" word again!!!...story of my life!) One is a baby gift and the other an anniversary gift. I'll share them with you soon. I've been trying to prepare some Thanksgiving pieces for the launch of a new ebay group I'm honored to be in..."The Ladies Of Folk Art" ! Type TLOFA in your ebay search bar for all the members beautiful treats! One of my Thanksgiving paintings is on a group template! I was so thrilled and honored to see my little ladies on a TLOFA banner!

I've also been a busy bee finishing up all my Halloween pieces for listings in my other ebay

group I'm in... "Unique Halloween Art Treasures" ! Lots of fun Halloween goodies from all different types of artists! I love Halloween...so it is lots of fun for me.

new stuff...

...not the best title, but here's what i've been working on:)

i love working on canvas boards! they come in lots of sizes and have great versatility. pop it in a frame. prop it up on a shelf or window sill. attach a hanger to the back (i use strong glue and ribbon) to hang as is. possibilities galore! when i create these, i use the same technique as my canvases. i use vintage text and golden &/or liquitex acrylic paints. i wrap the color around the sides. then i use funky collage paper to cover the back. sometimes i just start painting and an idea is born. OR i sketch first and go from there.




this little sweetie will be on etsy at 7:00 p.m. (EST) tonight!

one of my lovely customers (you are all lovely, by the way!!) just asked me about my tea time ladies. i did add the original tea time lady to my cafepress site. she now lives on a tile coaster and looks quite fabulous there i might add:) AND she's only $8.50! stop the insanity! wouldn't she be so cute with your tea!!?? yummy. there will be some more originals in this group of canvas boards i'm working on. i'll keep you posted!!

if you don't know about cafepress...here's how it works. i've uploaded some of my favorite images on my own store there. you order from them. they print to order and then ship off to you. i've ordered some of the cards and magnets and just love them! YOU can even make your own stuff! upload a picture of the kids and print on a tee shirt or mug for grandpa...anything! have fun!

i'm henRy!!!

i shared some pictures of jake's room a few posts back and mr. henry has been wondering when i was going to share pics. of HIS room! it sounds a little like this: "iwant henry room on 'puter" and then imagine it repeated about 50 times in a row:) after we tidied up today we took these pictures.

he has so many of my favorite things in his room. my vintage funky chair. my vintage little b-day candle holders from mom. my $15.00 vintage yellow couch (there was 2 of them...my mom got the other 1!! pure insanity how adorable it is and in perfect condition). the little quilt that was jake's first....etc, etc! speaking of henry, i have always called him henny in a silly voice. well, he apparently wants NO part of that anymore! if i call him henny he says NO! I HEN-RRR-Y! oh the heart wrench...sniff sniff. my little man is off to his 2nd day of 3 year old class tomorrow too. SOOO grown up!!

lovely saturday...

the weather was soooooo nice today! we spent most of the day outside soaking up the sunshine. henry helped me water all the flowers (look at his cute little feet below!) and he picked these yummy tomatoes for me!

thanks hen!! chris grilled out tonight...he made the best sweet potatoes ever...yummmm. the boys drove around the yard in their little car while chris and i actually sat and talked for a bit. it is SUCH a rare moment when we both can sit back and enjoy a few moments together!

i even squeezed a little work in today and listed some new art cards, (i know...FINALLY!) on ebay. here's a peek and you can find them here if you'd like to bid on one:)
