secret valentines and sweet little birds

Time has just been flying by...and I don't know if it's the cold weather or what...but I am soooo sleepy lately. Not good to be dragging along when there are OH SO many things to do!!! I finally finished my little ATC's for my secret valentine!!! Maybe I'm not even supposed to show you?? I'm such a rule breaker...don't tell anyone.

I've also been working on a group of new paintings...Here's a couple peeks.

I seem to really have birds on the brain, huh!? Trust me it is because I am LONGING for Spring!! I am just not cut out for the cold. Not good news for the next tidbit I have to share with you. We are moving to Chicago!! I'm sure that I will literally turn into an ice cube upon arrival. Just kidding (sort of!) ...I'll just stock up on long johns and mittens. I have so many thoughts on moving, but seem to have a hard time getting them out just yet. There are so many things to worry schools and a home (hoping for something with a stripey roof)...
and the actual moving!! But, somehow those things tend to work themselves out. I'm trying to focus on the positive...and I really have a wonderful positive to look forward to. Many artist pals live in that area! I'll get to play with real life artist friends and see them at shows...etc. etc. I'm so excited about that. Jackie and Debbie and Michelle have already offered fabulous tidbits about the area and offered their help. Thank you so much!!! I can't wait to see you all:) The big move will be happening this summer so thank you ahead of time for bearing with me!! I'll be keeping you posted on all the details...

Off to paint some more birds and think warm thoughts:) Thank you so much for peeking in on me today. I hope you are having an extra special day!! xoxoxoxo....jenn

p.s. I got my hair colored and cut today. Always thrilled to say bye bye to those grey roots!!! Anyways...I chopped it pretty short and my son (the 7 year old darling) says to me. "What happened to your hair?? Why did you do that??" I say "wow...guess you don't like it." He says "uhhhh, NO! It looked WAY better before. I really can't believe you did that." ahhhhhh the joys of motherhood. Thanks sweetie:)

I love the valentines and the new stuff you're working on for the Folk Art Friends site! Yeah, I'm ready for spring here in Oregon too. It's been especially cold here this year and I'm so ready for winter to be over!!!! :)

Oh and that's too funny what your 7 year old said about your hair! Thankfully my 4 year old son has always liked what I did to my hair and told me it was beautiful (awwwww)...even the blonde streaks (I have dark brunette hair)....although it did take him a few minutes to decide whether he liked it or not. LOL! ;)

Oh Jenn, that comment about your son is too funny! My older son once wouldn't look at me because I got my hair cut short. And my younger son only likes girls with straight blond his mom. Boys hate change! Apparently they don't grow out of it either since my husband is the same way.
I love your new stuff and appreciate your need for the spring!
Have a warm day!

Everything is so beautiful! As always. And moving, wow! We just moved here 7 months ago after living our whole lives within 60 miles of all our family. It wasn't the easiest thing I have ever done but you are right, it does all work out and the kids things just fall into place. Good luck! Oh and the last time I cut my hair short my daughter told me I had ruined myself! Gotta love kids! said...

OKay, you creations, they make my heart SInnngngggggg lalalalaa!! But the hair cut thing, made me giggle. I used to get so angry when my parents made changes like that, isn't that funny??? hahaaaa.... Oh kids, they are so hilarious. I am sure you rlook gorgeouuuuuus!! xo

I love your ATC and what a wonderful idea to do a series each month for Folk Art and Friends. I hope that I can get some studio time so that I can start creating some spring inspired pieces too. I haven't had time to create lately and it makes my heart and my brain ache.

Oh,and don't worry about the move, I'll be on the lookout for some charming striped roof homes in the neighborhood. I'll let you know where the cutest ones are!

Hey, you know what? I don't like the cold weather/winter either but by the time January rolls around I get used to it and in some weird way I kind of like the quietness of winter. The other thing is that this is such a great area to live in. Close enough to a very cool city and lots of great things always going on even in the coldest weather. Besides that, the people are very friendly and we have GREAT food! You'll love it here and so will your kids. Speaking of your kids, I'm so sure that your haircut is adorable. When we saw your photo on the website at the launch party everyone said "She's Gorgeous".

We'll see ya,

I love all of your birds. I'm longing for spring too.
Moving to Chicago sounds exciting and it's great that you'll get to spend time with so many friends (in the real world)!

I love that you're a "bird brain" lately! I love each bird painting more than the last! REally!

Chicago...that's exciting and a little scary. But mostly exciting. :)

My boys are teenagers and still hate when I get my hair cut too short. Boys!

Oh, lucky girl to be your secret valentine. I just got my hair colored, too (mine's black) and people kept asking if I had on a new dress LOL They couldn't decide what was different!
Love your images. :Trish G.

Funny you would mention that you're thinking of moving house. I have noticed that you've been painting a lot of houses, lately!

I am in the midst of doing the very same thing; every weekend, my boyfriend and I have been looking
at houses, and after losing one (someone else had beat us to the punch), we have been feeling pretty morose, as if we've already seen the best of what this town has to offer in way of real estate, and now, nothing else we've seen quite measures up.

I am hoping to find a house with space for an entire craft room where I can spread out and create (not like the junky piled-up corner I have now). The house we lost out on had a PERFECT space for crafting, complete with a big sink! I never had put that requirement on my "want list"; I just assumed that wherever we went, I would "make do" with another piled-up corner, while he got a whole room for enjoying his cigars and guitars.

My heart sinks every time I think of what I could have had. Ironically, it wasn't until I saw that room that I realized I really wanted that in a house. That, and, of course, a tall, striped rooftop.... ;-)
