happy spring weekend to you...

Hope you are all enjoying a real live SPRING weekend like we are! The weather is getting up to 65 today...and I consider that a miracle! It's been a tough week. The boys have felt crummy. I've been really under the weather...feeling super tired and just worn out. I'm going to go sit on my front steps and think about planting flowers again...

(july 2007)

And then maybe stealing a little time to myself later to catch up on some work. I did complete these 2 little paintings the other day...I'm thinking of making some cards out of them...hmmmm?

My son's elementary school is celebrating the past 50 years with different bulletin boards featuring events/fads from the 6 different decades. So...I signed up to do a few and maybe you can help me:) I want to do an 80's fashion board...because, hello. I love the 80's!!! So I'm thinking neon, swatch watches, leggings and big blazers, big hair, Esprit, Guess, parachute pants..etc! I could scan fashion ads out of my 80's magazines and use that as a border? Any ideas for me?? I wanted to do music but a couple people beat me to it. I love 80's music...how was that soooo long ago?? I also signed up to do a Star Wars board for the 70's as a special treat for Jake:) So all you clever noodlettes out there put your thinking caps on and share your fabulous ideas with me;) If I use any of your ideas I'll send you a little treat!! Oh NO...I just heard thunder and it's getting cloudy! I'm running to catch that sun!!!!! p.s. it is pouring and lightning now. not kidding. sniff, sniff.

Happy Spring everyone!!

xoxo...jenn

I'm all about the 80's....my hair is the same style as it was in highschool.....probably not a good thing!
Swatches were great! Those rubber bracelets were fun too.

The house picture looks great up top. How about 80's cartoons, Smurfs, Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake? Or even the original Justice League ( with appropriately clad and realistic Wonder Woman)?

I love the new picture at the top. It really makes the Blog pop. Excellent.

I sent a friend over to your site to look at the luettes and she said we could be sisters artistically...funny. I love houses too!

I too was an 80's girl. I had purple hair and converse gym shoes. It was that bad. Thanks for getting me thinking about the old days.

Love your new banner. So totally adorable, Jenn.

Hope you all are feeling better soon. I'll be thinking of you.

I grew up in the 80s...graduated in 1989 from highschool. Yes, I'm 37. =-) So many fond memories. I LOVED my peechee (sp?) folders, playing pacman, All the Molly Ringwald movies, my half shirts, heavy rainbow eye make-up, and the Beastie Boys, just to name a few things. Wait, maybe some of those memories are from the 70s? Anyway...have such fun with your project. I know you'll make it so fun and colorful!

pac man, esprit clothing, rolling my socks down, listening to my moms tape cassettes on the tape recorder...oh my goodness...I was in elementary/middle school in the 80's...but I remember jumping on my neighbors (who was a few years older than me) trampoline. She would crank up WHAM!!! Oh...and my cousin who was in highschool in the 80's she had Duran Duran posters on her ceiling so she could see them when she laid down to go to sleep!!!!

I always liked the Bennetton ads! Well maybe that couple is doing 80's music but you could always do 80's college music or alternative music:)
80's fashion would be funny,,you could even focus on the hairstyles alone. You could do 80's films ,major events of the 80's,etc..Hmm I'll have to think about it some more..sounds like fun:)
Have a wonderful day:)

Christine

Jenn! Thank you soooo much!!! I got my little Lulette over the weekend and the extra goodies were fantastic! I love them!!! You are such a sweet heart!

You inspired me to pick up some clay at the craft store. I tried my hand at making a few little houses. They didn't turn out nearly as adorable as yours, but I'd love to share with you what else they inspired!

My 6 year old daughter, who is usually very self critical grabbed some clay and started working with it as well. She made about half a dozen little houses too and I would love to share them with you!!! Would you mind emailing me your email address? I'd love to send you a few pictures of her version of the little houses!

And when she finished them, I think we'd like to send you one.

Have a wonderful week and thank you for inspiring my daughter!

Hi Jen, I LOVE your new banner!!! How fun! Sorry to hear that you guys are feeling tired and under the weather. I'm feeling so tired lately too. I had that bad flu/cold about a month ago and haven't felt quite myself ever since.

Well, I love to stop by and see what what fun things you have been up to. It's always wonderful to visit. ;)

Jenn,
Love your new banner! SOrry about the weather. We had snow this weekend.

The eighties fashion was a trip! I just LOVED all that we used to be able to wear and get away with. Jelly shoes, those jelly bracelets. Aqua Net to get that plastered high hair effect! Don't forget the spiral Perm! LOL Rolling the jeans and layering socks! Half Shirts and BON JOVI!!! Shiny Spandex!!! I had every pin I could find on my Jean Jacket, with the collar rolled up for sure! Neon Nail polish...Love's Baby Soft and Primo perfume...skin musk too.

Thanks for taking me down memory lane.....

Your new paintings are adorable as well.

Hugs,
Michelle

Hi Jenn! :) Thank you for the sweet comment! I want to be a Lulette and live in a luette house and have wings and hold banners and hearts! It's all just so fun and whimsical. :) I don't think my HOA would approve a striped roof though. lol

The 80's...could you focus on movies? Like the breakfast club? Put some fake food up there with it? Scrunchies...lots of scrunchies. :) Back to the future? You know those cards that play music? You could pick one out that has an 80's song and take the card apart. I did that for Lillian's trick or treat bag and everytime she opened it, it would play music!

Star Wars...sandpaper for the sanddune scene...robot parts and this is crazy I know, but I did a Star Wars party and we made soap, black soap, and put a Star Wars figure in it so that it looked like he was stuck in carbonite. And glow sticks! Or the battery powered lights. Cantina music.

Have fun with it! :)

Those paintings are lovely.

If I had to pick 2 outfits of mine from the 80's which summed up the decade for me (I was a teenager in the 80s)they would be...

1. Cut off denim shorts with my CHOOSE LIFE t shirt (as worn by Wham! ).

2.Black ski pants (why would we ever want to look like we had no ankles!!) with an almost neon blue batwing mohair jumper, black and white beads with neon plastic bangles!! And big hair of course.
