unpacking old friends...

guess what we awoke to?
yep...more snow! The boys and I were looking forward to getting our tree today...but the wind and the snow had different plans for us. I keep saying "oh! it stopped snowing...let's go!...oh wait. It's snowing again." There's always tomorrow! So, we dragged out all the Christmas bins and began to unpack all our decorations and goodies. And when I say we, I mean me. My boys have pretty short attention spans if you know what I mean. I do love to unpack all our Christmas treats. All the little friends that have been packed away...waiting for their big moment in December where they can pop back into our lives & brighten our home again!

Henry was quite thrilled by the stack of Christmas books!

and all the little friends of the stuffed variety that kept popping up...

hoooray! my vintage purple jingle bells!!

I bought these little stuffed kitchen ornaments last year from the etsy shop Olive ...they look so cute on my little pink feather tree.

have I told you how much I love chippy old lookin' stuff?

Love seeing all the boys' past Christmas projects!!!

Now...just so you don't think I'm a total wimp when it comes to all this snow...I did take the boys out in the backyard for a little playtime. We bundled up and went out! The temperature was 20 said it 'felt like 17' and the low would be 4 today...I don't see any difference in any of those numbers. IT'S FREEZING! period.

Not very good snowman building snow...too fluffy...but we did manage to make this little guy.

and just when I was completely dreading the task of shoveling the driveway and sidewalk, my neighbor came along with a snow blower and did our whole little block! Wasn't that incredible!? He is a really quiet guy who keeps to himself, so we don't know him at all! I was so touched by his kindness. We left him a card in his mailbox. I'm so appreciative. Don't you love when someone comes along and completely restores your faith in the human spirit!?!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Hi Jenn, I took out my decor last night. It's so much fun to see things that have been tucked away all year. I thought it was cold here in northern nj...but no snow and it's in the 30' guys have me beat. Hopefully it will stop snowing there and you can go out and get your tree. Deana

What a warm cheery entry even though it IS cold and snowy outside:)
I have some treasured old ornaments too, things that used to be on my dad's tree when he was a boy. Fragile now, but oh so beautiful. We also keep the holiday books packed up and it is a joy to rediscover them each Christmas.
Cheers, Shelagh

getting out all of the Christmas stuff is just like taking a trip down memory lane, isn't it? it really is such a beautiful time of year. i hope the snow stays away long enough for you to get your tree the meantime, stay inside and enjoy the hot chocolate (you make it just the way i like it - with marshmallows on top!). :)

Hi Jenn!
It's always a treat to see pictures of all your loot.

Jake and Henry make adorable little snow angels...the snowblob was pretty cute too! Reminds me a bit of the Hutt:) It snowed a bit in NJ too but just enough to put you in the holiday mood. Now if it doesn't snow again for the rest of the winter I'll be happy!
Have a great week!!!

I know what you mean about "old friends". I love all of the old ornaments, the things that the kids made for me, the old reindeer that we had when I was a child. All of it, even the old clay star that crumbles a little more every year. I love all of your snow pics too. Come over to my place and take part in my Christmas contest and please bring friends. Hugs.
