Remember me!? whew, whew, whew. What a week...really 2 weeks!!! I let myself get so far behind in EVERYTHING...that it was borderline ridiculous. But you know what? That's what happens. And I am slowly learning to let it all go....goodbye yucky week:) Thank you soooooo much for all your lovely messages and the sweet hugs you sent my way!! So, the boys are out of school for Spring Break all next week. (yay for no school schedule and homework:):)) The boys are over their disgusting colds. The laundry mountain is slowly being taken care of. A couple BIG projects I was working on are all finished up. I'm back to creating some new goodies for the
shop . I made friends with my new printer today. I think we will get along just fine;) AND...the weather is GORGEOUS!! I soaked up a little sun today and let me tell you WHAT A DIFFERENCE a little sun makes! hooray for that! I even caught up with a small stack of magazines as I sat in the sun...
So...things to share...
One of the BIG projects I finished up was a 30x40 commissioned painting. I want so much to share a good photo with you...but let me tell you! It is way hard to capture something that size with a puny camera like mine:) But...here are a couple pics. anyways! Lots of collage and fun little scraps of special fabric mixed in..old family photos. You can click on the photos to make them larger...not good pictures though!

I haven't showed you these little lulettes that were a special set for a special customer:) Love the muted tones. I'll be doing more of those!! And yes...there will be another update SOON! I'm aiming for late next week. You will be the first to know exactly when:):)

Henry (aka Batman) and I made some yummy Sweet Potato Apricot Bars a couple days ago. He did so much of the work and did a wonderful job! Everyone should wear a Batman costume while baking! Look at his cute tiny kid knife and he's chopping up the apricots!
Henry was convinced we were making them for his birthday (ahem...it's in July)...so I had to sing Happy Birthday. I thought they were delicious, so I'll share the recipe with you! The only thing I didn't love was using the sweet potato baby food. I'm sure you could use fresh pureed! No clue where I picked this recipe up from...I've had it for awhile.
Sweet Potato-Apricot Bars
3/4 cup dried apricots, chopped
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
6 Tbs. butter, softened
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 jar (4 oz.) sweet-potato baby food
1 1/2 cups old fashioned oats
- Heat oven to 350'F. Line 8x8 inch baking pan with foil. Place apricots in a blender with 1/4 cup boiling water, cover, and let sit while making batter.
- In a bowl, combine flour, wheat germ, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Set aside. In mixer bowl, beat butter and sugars until light and fluffy...about 3 minutes. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add sweet potato, and beat until well combined. With mixer on low speed, beat in flour mixture. Stir in oats. Divide batter into thirds. Press 2/3 of batter into lined pan.
- Puree apricots in blender, and spread over batter. Divide remaining batter into clumps, and sprinkle over apricots. Bake 35 minutes.
