leftover-palooza

(from my month series...2007)

Do you all have FULL tummies
and refrigerators full of leftovers?

Did you drink out of the "good" glasses?
(p.s. no spills either!)

after eating, were you able to jump around
like crazy and play charades?
me? No. The boys? Of course!
And you have to love the ease of playing
with a 4 year old that announces what he
is going to be before he acts it out;)

Happy Friday everyone...
enjoy your leftovers today.
I know we will:)
xox...jenn

p.s. Christmas Card sets are now in the shop
and I'm finishing up some new paintings
and of course lulettes.
Look for an update around Monday night!
I'll let you know for sure this weekend!! xoxo

giving thanks...

I know I can be a bit redundant with
all the thanks...but really. Can I ever
say thank you enough?
I was so thrilled that you all came over

I appreciate all of you that gave my wee
lulettes happy, new homes!!
I am soooo blessed to have all of your
support.

You mean the world to me:)

I received quite a few emails about people
not being able to check out...and things disappearing
from your carts. I absolutely hate that happens and
I wish so much that etsy could remedy this!
I will be making more angels and houses

available. I'm hoping by the beginning of next week.

cozy...

It has been soooo very cold this week. What bettter way to snuggle into your home than with flannel sheets. I mean, really. Is there anything better? So, out of the depths of the linen closet came our yummy flannel sheets. Mine are so old and cozy and soft. Sure, I've bought new sets in the past 10 years, but I always go back to this original set. Little couples skating and sledding around in the snow. Yep. night night.

the boys love their snowman flannel sheets...if only they would STAY in their cozy beds past 6:30 a.m. Seriously. I don't know how these are my children. They get up SO early.

What are you guys doing to stay warm and cozy? Are you surrounding yourself with lots of blankets...

and catching up on reading and browsing through catalogs...

and enjoying hot tea and yummy cake?

Besides trying to stay warm...I am working away to catch up on all your orders. Don't worry...I'm still taking it easy. I'm not letting myself work past midnight. (You have NO idea how hard that is for me!!!! SO hard!!!) And I'm almost caught up...sort of. I'd like to have a lulette update in the shop this weekend. I think Sunday night. Let's say 8:00 p.m. EST. I really don't know how many things will make it into the update...but I had started some clay ornaments and angels before I got sick. Those will be finished up and ready to go and maybe a few other treats. At least there will be something new;) see you

sunday

For now...stay cozy and warm!

Nana and PopPop

November 17, 2008

Today would have been my Grandpa's 100th Birthday!

He passed away a couple weeks ago on Halloween night.
He just missed his big day.

As young girls, my sister Ali and I spent tons
of time with my Nana and Grandpa. My Nana
passed away before I had this blog, so I want
to take this opportunity to share some photos
of them both.

Atlantic City

(that's my grandpa on the far right)

my nana and grandpa
at home in Miami, Florida
with my Mom and Aunt Judi

above...my Mom, little me, Grandpa and his mother

below...Grandpa and his brother Al

that's me above:)
that's when Grandpa was Cowpa and after
that he was PopPop for many years...
then I got too cool and started calling him
Grandpop or Grandpa.

In almost 100 years, you can imagine the many
experiences he had...living through the depression,
a veteran of WWII,
he raced motorcycles, he owned a gas station
and he painted airplanes for Pan Am.

My PopPop
loved to fish and make things with
his hands

like this doll house and cradle for me.

He loved to bowl and play cards and watch
game shows and snack on pretzels and nap in his chair.
He always looked the same...
with his handsome full head of white hair
and face that defied age.

There were no strangers to my PopPop...
he would talk to anyone and everyone.
And every time you went to a restaurant with him,
he'd walk out saying the same thing to a passerby...

"wanna know the bad thing about this place?
it kills your appetite!"

We would stay with Nana and PopPop
every summer. They would take us to
Circus World and Weeki Wachee and Disney.

They had a huge garden where we would
pick things for our salad each night.
They would treat us to dinner out at Pizza Hut
and take us bowling. They would let us wind
the cuckoo clock and look through old pictures
and go for bike rides. We would attend Mass
with them on Sundays.

My Nana would always
pick her jewelry out of her jewelry box and put
on her red lipstick and perfume and
I would love the way she smelled.
My sister and I would hide their cigarettes
and tell them to stop smoking...
my Nana finally did...
PopPop was sneaking them until
the very end:)

Nana taught me how to iron and cook.

She loved owls and gardening and sewing

and doing crosswords. She and my PopPop would
fight like cats and dogs but always loved each
other in the end.

They loved to travel...

and go on cruises and visit with their friends
at the clubhouse in their retirement community.

Nana saved every piece of mail we ever sent them.
All the cute little drawings and funny misspelled words
on Holly Hobby stationery.

I loved my Grandparents very much and while
I miss them...I will always cherish these memories
and moments.

Happy 100th PopPop!!
