lulettes and the great outdoors

hello sweet friends! guess what!? This is going to be a post with more than just a few sentences! woohoooo:) I loved hearing about YOUR plans for the long weekend. So many of us had the same idea of getting out into this gorgeous weather and getting our hands dirty in the yard! BIG, huge yahoos for that. whew...after such a long (I mean REALLY long) winter, it feels so spectacular to be outside in flip flops and summer clothes! I'm not planting too much in the yard since we are only here temporarily...but I still want to make the yard a cozy and cute place to spend the summer in. Feeding the lawn...weeding the beds...planting a few flowers here and there. Even if you don't have tons of overflowing flower pots everywhere...you can still liven up your outdoor space with funky objects and lovely color!

I love the little flowering trees popping up here and there. Everything is turning so lush and green! We moved here last August, so I'm seeing some of these Spring things for the 1st time.

Like this PEONY plant! SWOOON! Peonies are one of my all time fave flowers and I can't even believe I will have some right in my backyard to enjoy! There are lots of buds too!

Along with all the blooms and changes in scenery...the birds are EVERYWHERE! I love them so much. tons of robins and cardinals play all day in our yard. We also have a momma Downy woodpecker that made a nest in a little dead tree in our yard. It is right outside my studio room window...I can see her right now! Look at the amazing home she made for her eggs...

and she did such a good job, because the babies have hatched! You can hear them chirping away in there...all safe and snug. The momma flies in and out with food, all day long. If she is inside and you gently tap on the tree, she pokes her head out of the hole. It's so cute. Like..."hello!? what do you want!?" I've tried to capture a picture...but this is the best I can get:)

see her over to the left? anyways...that's what we've been up to in the yard. Of course our reluctant and oh so silly helper was there helping out. Thank you Jake!

I also had time to finish up and get some pictures of my new lulettes! there aren't tooooo many...but enough for a little update tomorrow night! Tuesday! Of course there are field trips, club meetings and baseball practice tomorrow...so the update will be a little late in the day.

lulette update

9:00 p.m. EST (that's New York time!!)

noodle and lou ETSY shop

9 wee houses in all. I know...not a ton...but I swear, these take me SO long to paint. It's a long process you guys! I already have more in the works, but for now here a few more peeks at the new ones. I had an idea to make a set with all the letters in the alphabet..."D" is making her debut in this group. "D" is for delightful! I coudn't start with A...much too predictable! haha! But look for more "alphabet lulettes" in the near future.

I also made another one of my "men in hats"

and a super sweet little couple that are celebrating.... celebrating what? you can decide! the colors are really fun and I gave them lots of my beloved polka dots. You can't celebrate without polka dots!

I might have a couple little pieces of jewelry ready too. Maybe! If not...I'll have them ready later this week. I've gotta get myself back in to some sort of "regular" listing schedule. I mean it!! Next post I'll share some good news and 2 AWESOME blog giveaways that I won. I'm pinching myself they are so wonderful.

just a little heart to tell you just how much I appreciate you all! Thanks for being my loyal and dear friends. even when I'm spinning in so many different directions, I know that you are always here to cheer me on. I've postponed the lulette update for a few more days...probably to Tuesday night. My husband has been gone all week and I've been running in 3,000 different directions with the boys. But after a baseball game in the morning, I MIGHT have a bit of me time comin':) Now tell me all about what you are doing this weekend! yes, you...go on! I'll share more of what's been going on in the noodle and lou house soon! Right now I'm headed for my pillow:) zzzzzzzzzz
Have a lovely weekend all you sweet peas!!

the queen

the queen is now in my etsy shop!

yahooooo...she sold!!! thank you!!!

I used lots of vintage french text and layers of paint. I printed "the queen" label on to a little piece of muslin and added 2 of my FAVORITE vintage buttons (with the old thread still in them...squeal!!). I had so much fun turning that old broken frame into this sweet little queen:) Here are some pictures for ya!

she hangs on your wall!
hello queenie!

I'm excited about finally planting a few little flowers on our patio...

and uncovering some old friends in the process:)

Hope you all have some lovely things planned for your Thursday!
ENjoy!! xox...jenn

spinning along

...like I'm on one of those parking lot carnival rides. The one where you sit in the little bucket and there's a wobbly bar that is supposedly going to stop you from flying across said parking lot. Yep. that one. There are only a few short weeks of school left. So, we are trying to swing through these last busy days of the 2008/09 school year. Trying not to swing too fast though. Trying to slow down and enjoy these last days of Henry being a Pre-K'er. I will miss his sweet class of teachers and friends! Also enjoying my time at the baseball field watching Jake. The schedule is busy (3 games and 2 practices this week!), but I really love to see him out there having fun and learning and growing. Trying to savor the end of 3rd grade for my growing boy! This means we've almost been in Illinois for a year too. Time just flies on by...

So, what did all of you do this past weekend?
Our weather was just gorgeous...hope you had a little piece of that too! I managed to get a bit of work done. It's slow going (see 1st paragraph)...but I'm hoping for a lulette update at the end of the week. Here are some peeks at some other things I've been up to the past week...

a commissioned princess went off to live in her new home:)

working on transforming some Goodwill and thrifting finds...

ACEO cards in the works...

oh, and did I mention someone had a laser tag birthday party this weekend? Jake had the MOST fun time at his birthday party! He and his friends had me cracking up the whole time. Seriously, my face hurt from laughing! SUPER good time as you can see from this smile...

and of course this smiling gunman had to get in on the action too:) I think the equipment weighed as much as him...but it didn't slow him down!

oh my gosh, I just laugh and laugh when I look at that picture!

okay...off to my day!

But before I go, I want to wish my dear, sweet, hilarious and supportive friend (and mighty fine farm town farmer) Catherine a

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

hope you get EVERYTHING you wish for and MORE today:):)

fish bag

my little Henry picked out this adorable beach bag for me at Michael's. And hello...it was $2.00...which is just the right price when you are 4 and picking out a Mother's Day gift.

Jake made my bed for me and gave me some super sweet handmade treats AND some lovely flowers to plant...so thank you to my sweet boys...

(a snippet of a painting I did for my house...this was one of the boys:))

Now maybe I could plant those flowers one day when it truly, finally WARMS up for good! I seriously did not want to...but I had to turn the heat on this morning! argghh. At least our yard is filling up with tons of yummy lush green and all I want to do is park it right here and enjoy it;)
I'll just make sure to bring a blanket.

Happy Tuesday!

happy mother's day

(a painting from my 2007 collection)

Happy Mother's Day
to all my sweet momma friends out there!
Hope you all enjoy your special day...
you deserve it!

I got this poem as an early
Mother's Day gift from one of my
sweet little guys...

Thank You, Mom

Thank you for reading me stories
and taking care of me.
Thank you for tying my shoes
and putting bandages on my knee.

Thank you for tucking me into bed
and kissing me good night.
Thank you so much for all your hugs
and holding my hand so tight.

Thank you for being my mommy
and that's not all I have to say.
Thank you so much for all you do
and have
a Happy Mother's Day!

Isn't that the cutest!? xoxox...jenn

the big 300!

Well, I sat down to write you all a quick hello and share a couple pictures with you...when I realized this was my 300th post!!

yahoooooo
yahooooo!!!!
can it really be true!?

so, I peeked waaay back in time to revisit my very 1st post in August of 2007 and could not believe what I saw! The VERY SAME little collage family that I had taken a picture of tonight to show you!! Is that the craziest thing ever!? okay...let me explain. I had made some little shadow box collages back in 2007 and on my very 1st blog post I showed you all this one.

Last week when I was cleaning out my studio I found it and wanted to use the box for another project so I took my little family of 3 out of there and stuck them on my sewing machine. (They keep me company and I love them and I'm really itching to make some more collages...)

Isn't that the most fun coincidence!? My little blog must have been whispering to me when I took this picture tonight! These 3 are going to have quite the ego...they were in my 1st post AND 300th post!? But with a cone hat like that, don't they deserve it? :):):)

Have a bunch of things in the works and now I'll have to think up some fun way to celebrate this special occasion now as well! Stay tuned sweet friends. Thank you for sharing in my world these past 300 posts. It is such a joy to have you all in my corner!!!

xoxox...jenn
