happy day...

hey guys! thanks for the birthday wishes over the weekend! i had a lovely day and so appreciate you all thinking of me:):):) the boys made me super cute cards. jake's had a drawing of me with tons of laundry in my arms with a big X through it and it said "sit back and relax today!". LOVE that:) he's such a good artist:) henry gave me a ziploc bag filled with little balls from his room. he had it hidden under his play table with stuffed animals guarding it. is that the cutest thing ever!? that kid is soooo sweet. by the way, in regards to the picture below, the ONLY way we can get both boys to smile at the same time is if the person behind the camera tells some sort of gross joke involving potty stuff. sad but true. thought you should know the truth;)

they also made me a pink cake with polka dots of course. wish i could give you each a slice...it was quite deeeelicious:)

friday night chris and i actually got away by ourselves for once (yay!) and we went to see Son Volt at The Vic. it was such an awesome show. (well, besides the loudest guy in history randomly standing next to me. my right ear is still ringing from that guy screaming WOOOO the whole time. i'm not kidding...this guy was bizarre loud...like guiness book of world records loud.) we had some thai food for dinner, a couple drinks...really was a super fun night.

there we are! hahaha! and no...the loud guy is not the one that took this:)

so that's what we were up to. hope you guys had a great weekend too! i have tons of things to add to noodle and lou vintage this week. added these cute little strong men (pictured below) last night:) halloween art goodies will finally be hitting the regular shop toward the end of this week too...yipppeeee for halloween!! it's right around the corner!

finished up my little halloween boat gals & they will be hitting the shop today around lunch time:) it's a 4x4 little chunky canvas with looooads of texture.

happy tuesday! xox...jenn

after...

here are the "after" photos! the trunk still needs a tiny bit of work...but i'm SO excited about what a perfect spot it is for our records, etc! awesome! i covered the top with awesome pieces of a vintage California souvenir tablecloth. the remaining pieces went on to the rocking chair seat. the rocking chair got quite a few coats of white paint and then got all sanded up...i love it now! LOVE it:) check out my chippy yellow table too. cutest ever. it was SO perfectly chipped up and distressed from years and years of use. all i did was clean it and seal it! love.

happy weekend everyone! see you monday!!! xoxo...jenn

a couple of projects...

when life gets a little kooky (or a whole lot kooky) i tend to start looking for projects. which is very odd, because good grief i have 1 zillion other things i NEED to be doing. i think it is just my way of escaping. a change in my surroundings equals an escape from the kookiness. and even though it sort of adds to the chaos...it's all good:) make any sense? probably not;) i'll just get to my little projects i worked on this week! but i will warn you...these are just the 'before' pictures...i will "dazzle" (haha) you with the 'after' pictures tomorrow:) i found this trunk at a yard sale and it was SO filthy and had the MOST disgusting and dirty yellow carpet stuck all over the top of it. can not believe i didn't get a picture of the top before we ripped it off and pitched it. just imagine filthy shag carpet from the 70's. i know. gross.

this was after getting a layer or 2 of dirt off! i had to keep scrubbing and scrubbing. thank goodness for Magic Erasers!!!

my next project was this darling little rocker that was my grandparent's. i know many people freak out to paint such beautiful wood...but i just couldn't stand it like this. i like stuff painted. and for a long time i left it as is, because that's the way they had it...but i thought it was time to have it be the way i wanted it. i'm sure they would want me to enjoy it that way:)

of course henry had to get in on the action and was quite a help:) (his hair should be my 3rd project of the week! major need of a little hair trim:):) even shaggy he is so cute!)

so stay tuned for the 'after' photos tomorrow:) i love the way each piece turned out and i already feel more grounded after my little projects! thanks for stoppin' by! xox...jenn
p.s hi mom! thinking of you everyday and praying that you feel better soon! love you:)

won't you take me to...spoOky tOwn

oh yeah...you're going to have that song in your head ALL day now:) you're so welcome. but that really is where i've been heading lately. spooky town. all sorts of halloween ideas floating around in my head. (i am quite certain i won't get to half of them, but anyhoooo...) HAPPY 1st day of FALL! the leaves are changing and falling...the weather has a little chill...fall is here. so, where better to go than spooky town. fall means halloween! hip hip hoOooRay!!!!

this little spooky gal creeped into the etsy shop today and quickly creeped right back out! thank you!!! she'll be heading to her new home...but i have mounted prints and regular paper prints on their way soon:)

i've been doodling some new painting ideas too. you know i don't usually sketch my paintings first (i like to be surprised! ha!)...but i sure do love to doodle and these little gals appeared the other night. they will be all painted up soon:)

they are definitely headed to spooky town. don't you think? enjoy your tuesday everyone:) xox...jenn

vintage saturday

hello friends! i'm happy to report that everyone is feeling better. no one is green. no one is clammy. some are still coughing. but, i'll take it! thanks for all your well wishes and sweet comments. you just are the best! we spent some of the day cleaning out the garage. making trips to goodwill. disposing of dirty and useless things we have, for some reason (WHY!?), been keeping in the garage. and i worked on some art orders and snapping some pictures for noodle and lou vintage. i'm having so much fun with that. here are a few things that are in the shop now:)

fun little things...

vintage toys...

kitchen cuties...

and bags to help you travel and picnic in style:)
and you can even combine your shipping with my noodle and lou shop . just let me know and i will send you a revised invoice. i'llbe adding some darling Christmas vintage goodies very soon, so keep peekin' in on me. so happy to have healthy kids and a beautiful weekend to enjoy! happy sunday!! xoxo...jenn

noodle and lou...

little lou is learning how to write his name like a big boy. and is that the cutest elephant you've ever seen!? yes, it is! my scanner cut the trunk off...but trust me. way cute:) poor guy has been sick with a cold. hasn't slowed down his drawing though! that kid is one prolific little artist:) poor big brother jake is so sick with a gross stomach bug. the nurse called me from school today saying he was "green and clammy" in the office:( the day went down hill from there. seems like the ship is sinking a little bit right now. but we'll keep scooping the water back out of the boat...and hope for calmer waters ahead!!!! thanks for all the WONDERFUL comments you leave here on my blog. i so greatly appreciate them. i really, really do. hoping to catch up with all of you soon!!! many xoxox...jenn

happy beginnings

another deep cleaning of the little noodle and lou studio is finally complete. i love the first couple days...when everything is so tidy and every little thing has a legitimate home. sure, it slowly creeps back to disaster-ville. but that's just part of the fun. i'll even show you a before picture! though it's not completely fair, because this was already somewhat cleaned! yikes.

i told you it was bad! feeling better about your mess? glad i could help:) so, now that everything is ridiculously tidy, i am completely motivated to finish my pile of orders and to get moving on some new art.

but the main reason for the big clean up, was to get my noodle and lou vintage shop rolling! amazing the treats i found tucked away in all that mess. i've been thinking about this for awhile and i'm really excited about it! you all know how much i love anything vintage and i think it will be so fun to share my finds with you. AND i can stop hoarding all these things. hoarder. that's me. SO...today will be the day that i start listing some things in my 2nd shop! i guess it's a bit of a grand opening. without the balloons and confetti and radio ads. stop on by right HERE. and check back often for new things:)

thanks you guys! happy thursday to you all!! xoxox...jenn
