team-up thursday

b e f o r e

isn't this a great theme for team up thursday!?
"before"...
thanks to our team-up leaders for that one!

add a little boiling water and my pasta will be ready to
gobble up. add some dirt and some time and carissa's
bulbs will be a beautiful treat. (love that shot carissa!!)

isn't that cool...
things in their "before" state.
just add a little time. a few little tweaks.
and voila...a whole new something.
a great lesson for life really!

have a great day! turning your BEFORE into something
fabulous AFTER! xoxo...jenn

vintage tuesday

one of my most favorite things to collect
and re-purpose is vintage fabric.

i have loads of it.

and i constantly snatch up more at
flea markets and sales. the best are tiny
little doll clothes and aprons that are
stained and left for dead. those are the
easiest to cut up.

i'm especially fond of the lace trim and super soft cottons.
and i sure do love the florals. and the old pillow cases.
and the crispy linens. okay. i guess i just adore it
all! don't you!?

i use vintage fabric for all sorts of things. using strips
for tying up packages, cut up fabrics for mixed media
paintings and especially for making little skirts for my
art dolls.

this little gal has a sweet red and white skirt
made from yummy vintage fabric.

enjoy your tuesday everyone! xox...jenn

p.s. for all of you that have been waiting...
i will be having an update later this week
(probably towards the weekend) with
snowman ornaments and more:) yay!

a christmas gal and some STJ peeks!

can i just tell you how SUPER excited i am that it is FRIDAY! just picked up the kids...i've completed about 6,000 loads of laundry and i think i'm done working for the day! think we will eat out tonight in celebration of the weekend being here. and the fact that both my wonderful boys got straight A's on their report card!!! isn't that tremendous! i'm so proud of them. yay!

so, before i check out for the night...i have a christmas gal to add to the shop. she'll be there in a moment. she is one of my wall sculpture lulettes (she hangs on the wall). she's holding a little freshly chopped christmas tree:) and a little flag that says "enjoy". of course her skirt is made from my vintage fabric stash with a polka dot tie and old millinery flowers. i love making these little gals.

also...don't forget that spookytime jingles updates tonight at midnight! (that's 12:00 am eastern time!) always love to cruise the site peeking at all the new goodies! here are some sneak peeks of my offerings tonight. no cheating...just peeks! :):):):)

be there or be square! and hey...HAPPY WEEKEND! xox...jenn

team up thursday

our theme for team up thursday this week was
p a p e r

love how both of our shots had vintage paper. look at that cute little girl in carissa's shot:)

yummy, yummy paper! i have quite an addiction to the stuff. new paper. old paper. collage paper. scrapbook paper. cards. vintage books. magazines.

and more vintage books. and even more vintage books.

i do love paper. especially that old, crispy stuff. i really have tons of it and i adore every single piece!

now...if only i could find a better system for housing all of it! xox...jenn

take a peek at the team-up flickr pool here! amazing stuff there!

a little hope and joy

a couple new paintings made their way into the shop a few minutes ago...

a little hope and joy! hope you are enjoying your wednesday out there! xox...jenn

vintage tuesday

today for vintage tuesday...a 5 second makeover on an old ugly shelf! i found this little guy at an antique mall. he's decoupaged with magazine cutouts. ugh. not to offend anyone who loves the style...just totally not mine!

so, you may see something like this in your travels and think...oh no. too much work. i'll have to sand all those magazine pictures off and re-paint the whole thing. NOT TRUE! you literally need some glue, a brush, some old book pages (i like them yellowing and crispy), and a few minutes!

rip the whole page out, slap some glue on the shelf and stick into place! yep. that easy. use the straight edge of the book page in the corners and along the sides for precision. if you want to get all fancy, you can cut the pages into smaller squares or strips and take more time to make a pattern. brush some more glue on the top of the page and voila! you are SO done.

no signs of the magazine cutouts...just some vintage book page goodness to use as a backdrop for your goodies!

what can you discover to makeover?

have fun! xoxo...jenn

botanical goodness

we had some wonderful company last week. my aunt and uncle were so sweet to stop by and see us on their way to austin (not really at all on their way...it was pretty much WAY out of their way!). we spent some time playing at the fort worth botanic gardens. one of my most favorite places that i have discovered since moving to the area! such a lovely place. and it was a super lovely day. crisp and chilly and it felt like FALL! the sky was a striking blue against the green, orange and red trees.

a quick stroll through the conservatory warmed us up!

little bits of pretty poking out at every turn...

but the absolute hit of the day was the japanese garden. seriously the best one any of us have ever seen! 7.5 acres of meticulous beauty! absolutely incredible. i could stay there all day! (click on the images to see 'em BIG)

i'll take this as my backyard please.

koi frenzy!

just fabulous isn't it!? you must visit if you are ever anywhere near fort worth! so happy you guys were here with me aunt judi and uncle tony!
xox...jenn

team up thursday

happy days are here when it's THURSDAY!

that means time for team-up thursday...and i have been missing the fun! so...i'm a little tardy in getting my post up for the day. but that is because i've been off playing at the fabulous botanical gardens in fort worth. i'll share more about that later!

so...team up!

the fab carissa and i did ORANGE. i sure do love orange. in our very first home (the cutest bungalow) we painted our living room walls orange. sounds frightening and garish...but it wasn't! it was adorable and cheery and perfect. nowadays i'm more into the orange accents. a pop of orange sure brightens things up!

i'm in love with the COLORS in both our photos. the SAME blue! the same orange! have i mentioned how much i sure do adore my partner!?! same brain waves or something:) and i love how they both are so time worn. my ancient tinker toy can...and her rusty metal. yummy.

want to join in on the team up thursday fun!!? grab a partner and come on over! making diptychs is big FUN:) big!
