vintage tuesday

we are celebrating the vintage kitchen today!  incorporating old signs, vintage plate collections, salvaged wood and vintage industrial fixtures (to name a few) equals big style.  the kitchen is often times the center of the house.  where everyone gathers to share in the smells and tastes of yummy food and good company.  why not fill it with vintage charm and character!?

you can join me over at pinterest to see even more of my favorite spaces!  enjoy...

vintage tuesday

spending the day at home with the family today!

i officially have 2 little graduates in the house.  one is a 6th grader and the other a 2nd grader.  they were called into school yesterday and they were sooo upset...but midday the test scores arrived and yahooooooey...today starts summer!  we are going to relish in the joy!  sure hope you have a joy filled tuesday too...

xoxo...jenn

last day and wood blocks

happy weekend you guys!
our baseball tournament game was postponed today and i'm secretly overjoyed.  this is the 1st saturday in i-don't-know-how-long that we can get some things done around the house and not have to be anywhere.  yahoo!  the boys finished school yesterday.  can you believe it!?  they were over the moon ecstatic.  but then the bad news came.  maybe school is not over.  the texas state test scores have not come in yet, so they might have to attend monday and beyond!!! until the test scores arrive!  the horror!!!  ohmygosh.  i've just never heard of anything so crazy.  so, we wait.  for a phone call by sunday night at 6:30, to know if they go back to school on monday.  poor guys.  poor teachers!  yikes.

on a happier note...i'm heading over to the shop ,right now, to add 4 little wooden block paintings.  one day i'll do a proper update...with lots of notice and multiple items!  i just have so much going on and it's easier to just stick stuff in when i have time:)  so, here ya go!  vintage wooden block paintings with vintage paper sides...sanded and sealed.  cute and happy.  just the way i like 'em:)

and a little shot of the boys on their hopefully last day of school:)

moms day

i hope you all had an absolutely delightful mothers day!  i came across this photo yesterday (from 2005) and it
made me all nostalgic and thankful for my little guys who made it possible for me to be a mom.  looking at henry as a baby with those edible little chunky toes and fingers and the drool all over his shirt...awwwww.  and jake as a sweet little pre-schooler.  (and good grief i looked young!) sigh.  we still lived in florida here.  seems like so long ago!  okay...that concludes my little trip down memory lane:)  sure do love my guys!  happy monday everyone!!  xox...jenn

team up thursday

loud
that's an easy team up thursday theme for me!  when is it not loud around here with 2 boys:)  and it's getting ready to be a whole lot louder.  summer is sneaking right up on us.  may 20th is the last day of school!  can you believe it!?  and look at carissa's sweet little peanut.  jumping with glee.  squealing for the world to hear.  love how happy and sweet she looks.

who do you think would be the loudest?
my 2 boys or carissa's 2 girls?
i think it would be an extremely even tie:)

have a happy, happy day!  xox...jenn

vintage tuesday

how do you decorate with vintage items?  there are so many different ways to express your personality, your unique style...your creativity.  and one of the best (and easiest!) ways to do that is through repurposing your vintage finds.  today, vintage tuesday challenges you to look at things in a different way and to celebrate new lives for old things...

i have a collection of minnow buckets that now house magazines.  vintage pails like these are also wonderful for showing off big bouquets of flowers, hanging as a grouping on a wall or simply displayed along a shelf.

how about rusty old lunch pails?  they make fabulous planters!  especially cute on a front porch...

and of course one of my personal favorites...old drawers.  they can serve a multitude of tasks.  rusty metal ones can line up as memo boards.  old wooden ones bring huge style to your office, studio or playroom.    house office supplies, papers, paints, crayons, toys...anything and everything.

i really, really adore repurposing old farm finds.  this ancient chicken coop door now serves as a super sweet photo board.  some of our favorite b&w family photos are simply tucked into the wire and can be changed out easily.

old farm rake heads are so charming hanging on a wall...especially in groups.  imagine a line of them along your mud room to house jackets, bags and hats.  also fabulous in your closet or bathroom for scarves and necklaces.  i love their old rusty patinas...just brush on (at least) several coats of minwax polycrylic to seal them up before using with your clothing.

how about old windows?  you can find them at flea markets, yard sales and antique malls.  use a scrap of  fun fabric and place behind the glass.  i hot glue the fabric into place!...seriously...it's that simple and the fabric is easily removed.

i love when my sweet vintage clients send me photos of their purchases in their new surroundings.  this old dart board recently left my shop for its new home with diego.

he sent me these couple shots of his new york apartment where the dart board now serves as a unique photo display and marvelous graphic statement!  and aren't you just crazy in love with the huge letters above the couch?  way to go diego!
