hello weekend!  we sure do love you.  henry has his first baseball game of the season tomorrow.  i'm hitting the road a little to see what kinds of treasures i can find.  and then it's hanging out at the house time.  my favorite.  i have some projects i want to work on.  some sitting around with the boys i want to work on.  and some eating chris' cooking i want to work on:)  how about you?  it's here!  the weekend!  go out and enjoy it!

vintage tuesday & giveaway

hey there!  happy vintage tuesday!  time for another little giveaway.  and i just love this one.  i have piles (and piles) of fabulous vintage jewelry patiently waiting on my grand re-purposing plans.  but said plans always seem to get pushed to the back burner.  earrings, beads, antique typewriter keys, brooches, chains and necklaces... all looking so pretty piled up in their little containers.  they deserve to be worn.  to be shown off.  taken out on the town.  so i made a ring for one of you...

a sweet, spring-ey bright pink ring!  you just
have to leave me a comment on this post for
the chance to win.  but guess what... YOU
can make one yourself.  so easy peasy.
just shop for some vintage jewelry... look at
flea markets, thrift shops, antique malls,
gargage sales, etsy... pick something
small or something BIG for an extra fun ring.
this pink wire beaded clip-on earring was
perfect... i just snapped the back off.

get some blank, adjustable ring bands. i use
brass ones.  (shown below) find those at
craft & jewelry supply shops.  and GLUE
your find onto the ring.  umm. yeah.  it's
that easy.  use an industrial strength glue...
i like E6000.  and seriously.  that's it.

go make some!  it's so fun!  and don't forget to leave a comment here for the chance to win this one...hooray!  and maybe... maybe... i'll get some made for the shop one of these days:)  xox...jenn

*** i'll draw the winner next monday and annouce the winner on next vintage tuesday! ***

a restaurant in our kitchen

we had been hearing about this fabulous new restaurant.  it didn't really have a name, mainly because the owners couldn't agree on one, but it was supposed to be the best food around.  the owners kept begging us to try it out.  one day, during spring break, we finally did.  we didn't have to go far, or even drive in a car for that matter.  this restaurant was right in our own kitchen.  chris and i don't have the chance to dine alone very often.  it was quite exciting.  jake and henry prepared a menu, set everything up, cooked their little hearts out, and served us a delightful meal.  there were cracker appetizers, BLT sandwiches, salad and coffee with biscotti.  we snapped some iPhone shots to share with ya'll...enjoy!

our darling waiter, henry...
he sure was giggly:)

the head chef, jake.
what a master at his craft!

after we finished our meal, we spied the help eating
leftovers in the kitchen.  besides a few arguments
heard from the kitchen and our waiter stealing some
croutons off our plate right in front of us...
these cute boys run a fine restaurant and we
would eat there again and again.  xox...jenn

p.s. henry's choice for the name was "home sweet home".
i like that:)

vintage tuesday

happy tuesday!  it's a pouring rain mess here today, which means my internet satellite is extra pathetic.  makes blog posting pretty difficult.  i did manage to upload a few pictures i took the other (sunny) day for the shop:)  and they all happen to be fun items for decorating a child's room!  well, minus the vintage darts.  but wouldn't those be cool to use as push pins on your bulletin board?  totally.  have a great day you guys!

spring break recap

spring break is over.  6:30 a.m. sure came early this morning.  it was ugly.  and rainy.  and we all pretended it wasn't happening:)  but it was.  so off we went!  we had a fun week.  even though it wasn't quite the way we planned it.  henry got a nasty cold early on.  chris pulled his back out.  then i got the nasty cold.  quite the group, huh?  we didn't let all that get us down though.  besides a few bed rest/video game days...we adventured out, ate some good food and had fun spending time together!  one of the most notable spots we went was one of most favorite places to eat... weatherford downtown cafe.  henry got the chicken and waffles and ohmygosh.  one of the best things i've ever tasted.  and of course we always have to get the fried pickles.  so good.  SO good.  anyhoo...enjoy these few photos from our week...mostly from my instagram (@noodleandlou).  a lot of rest, a ton of good food, some side by side reading with my sick buddy henry, a tiny bit of work and some sight seeing.  how was your week!?

p.s. louie is a little sad spring break is over too.
