eight is great
the other day we celebrated henry's birthday. the big eight. and let me tell you... eight is great! he woke up to special decorations (our family tradition), he opened presents before breakfast, we played for hours at the arcade and laser tag place and then we ate at (his choice) cici's pizza. we ended the special day with daddy's coca cola cake and blowing out 8 candles with a special wish. henry said it was the best birthday ever. i think he was right.
henry, you are my shining star. my special little buddy that makes me laugh every single day. a tiny little body full of tremendous love and giggles. i love you so super much... more than i could ever say. xoxox

the brothers start their own business...
jake and henry... my 2 little "american pickers". my boys have always enjoyed vintage things. they have an appreciation for chippy and rusty old things. we've certainly dragged them to enough flea markets their whole lives. they have huge collections of old books to read and look through. (love that so much). they love our old radios and records. i think that they just "get it".
so... they have been begging me for years to have their own "shop". okay. they are now 12 and almost 8. i had mixed emotions about this. first off... i would be having to do most of the work. (just keepin' it real here folks.) second... they have the rest of their adult lives to worry about business.... just be kids! BUT. they wore me down. and i'm sort of glad they did because i sort of love it. they have a passion for old things. and that is SO cool. it makes my momma heart happy to see them appreciating vintage. when we go out on our shopping adventures, they have a certain style they are drawn to. the rusty metal... the tins... the toys...
so, why not. i opened a new section in my vintage shop just for my boys' finds. you can find it right here... jake and henry's corner . these are all items they picked out on their own. they spent their own money and they did their own research on each item. any money they make will go into their savings account. of course mom helps with the photos and the shipping... but i'm so proud of them and think it will be a really fun summer adventure for them:)
